This entry was the first and the most immediate reason to start this website. This has been a notoriously frustrating lunchtime experience for many federal govt agencies in this area for many years. Today it reached a boiling point and I submitted a comment form to the McDonalds corporate website. Here's the form comments.

I work for Voice of America on the opposite corner of this mcdonalds. A lot of the workers here at the agency go to this mcdonalds reluctantly because the lines are usually to the door and the service is so horrible (i guess this means the food is good).

There are many complaints that fly around our office and i think somebody should let you know a few:

1. when asking for 6 packs of mayo (i like mayo on my fries) i was told i have to pay for them if i want more than 3. (then the counter help promptly showed his frustration with this request by announcing outloud how absurd he thought it was that someone wanted so much mayonaise).

2. servers hardly EVER make eye contact with the customers when ordering and then ask them what they want more than once (they simply aren't listening and do not care to).

3. food tastes like it was made at 9 am.

4. people CAN tell the difference between coke and diet coke. in some cases, the nutrasweet in diet coke can adversely affect people's health. it can cause fainting or very bad migraine headaches. it's important to serve what the customer asks for.

I have worked in the food service industry for many years. I'm quite aware of bad customer service when i see it. I dont think these servers would like to be treated like this if they were on the other side of the counter (see #1 and #2 above).

please address these as it concerns your business.

thanks

This place is notorious for very good food at great prices however, this is overwhelmed by the genuine and blatant lack of reasonable table service.

If you plan on ordering apetizers, DO NOT GO TO THE SILVER DINER AT THE ABOVE ADDRESS. It seems the waitstaff failed out of appetizer school. The appetizers always come late, WITH your food. It almost seems like the appetizers were made AFTER the main course.

We had an experience once where we ordered the BBQ chicken tenders (which are quite delicious) and they came out WITH the main course (even when we informed the waiter before that the appetizers come out BEFORE the main course). After slicing into my first chicken tender, it sort of "squirted" at me. Upon close scrutiny we noticed that it was indeed uncooked.

The one good thing about Silver Diner is that if you do bring their problems to their attention it seems they bend over backwards to compensate. In this case we recieved our meals for free and recieved coupons for credit on our next meal.

In conclusion, this almost shouldn't be on "The List" because the food is good. BUT considering that the common customer must instruct the waitstaff on the basics of table service before they order, it may be wise to skip this place.
